Job Description

1. Lead a range of change projects through all elements of a review including, scoping; identification of potential opportunities; design of new ways of working, planning and implementation. Depending on the scope and size of the project to coordinate and / or project manage delivery.

2. To work closely with stakeholders across the University to ensure stakeholder requirements are captured; facilitate discussion around potential areas for improvement ensuring solutions deliver service improvements, demonstrating value for money and effectiveness for staff and students.

3. To work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, building effective working relationships across City to define opportunities for business change improvements, produce joint recommendations with colleagues within the scope of the change programme.

4. Provide support and coaching for line managers to assess and redesign internal processes and ways of working. This involves understanding, influencing and coaching a range of colleagues at all levels.

5. To design and deliver improvement events investigating and documenting current practice, design, develop and document future processes and ways of working.

6. To identify, analyse and interpret relevant data and management information data, to assist in demonstrating potential areas for improvement and measurable benefits.

7. Working with the Change Lead monitor, review and evaluate changes and ensure that outcomes and benefits are realised.

8. Present analysis and recommendations, both orally and in writing as required. Communicate both data driven, and conceptual information effectively to a variety of audiences, including the clear demonstration of outcomes and benefits.

9. To contribute to the design and delivery of effective training and coaching of colleagues including through the CI Practitioners Programme, Change Management Courses, Communities of Practice and development of the City change toolkit.

10. To ensure proactive and effective stakeholder engagement and communication, across all levels. Ensure that the CSU Head, sponsors and senior stakeholders are informed of progress via regular reporting.

11. To participate in relevant University working groups, as required.

12. Make use of sector professional networks to maintain awareness and knowledge of sector good practice

13. To undertake other tasks and duties as required from time to time by the Director or Change Lead.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience of leading business improvements within a complex organisation,delivering positive change in ways of working

  • Proven experience of utilising appropriate tools including:- Lean, process improvement, business improvement, service design and change management

  • Experience in all aspects of change projects - from diagnostics through to implementation, demonstrating a good understanding of organisational dynamics and the process and impact of change

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and work effectively with different stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
