About Our Client

Sovereign Network Group (SNG) has one of the strongest portfolios in the sector with over 82,000 homes and an annual income of over £830m. Strong financial metrics, interest cover and gearing enable the newly merged organisation to have enhanced depth, capacity and coverage giving it outstanding reach and impact.

A key objective of SNG is to ensure that all the homes it provides reach their industry leading 'Homes and Place Standard' by 2050. This standard, a core element of their strategic vision, ensures that all homes are fit for the future in terms of design, construction and condition and are 'sustainable within sustainable neighbourhoods.' With its customers at the heart of the vision, SNG's concern for the health and well being of current and future clients will drive a zero-tolerance approach to build quality and building safety.

SNG has an expansive strategic asset management plan which includes an ambitious development programme of 25,000 new homes over 10 years. This initiative will enable the regeneration, retrofit or replacement of existing ageing homes which will, in turn, reduce carbon use in both occupation and construction through the application of scientifically based targets. To do this they plan to invest £9.2bn over the next 10 years in new and existing homes.

Job Description

The Chief Investment & Development Officer (CIDO) will lead SNG's development of new homes and the regeneration, improvement or replacement of the homes and settlements that it already owns and manages. The individual will also have a pivotal role in defining strategy and direction for the Development and Asset Management functions in the newly merged organisation, creating an integrated resource that reflects the best of both organisations and the reality of very different geographical challenges. This department will continue to enable the realisation of the 'Homes and Place Standard' ambition for SNG.The CIDO will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to develop a clear and future-proof investment strategy that is both effective and sustainable and will maintain a capital allocation framework that clearly balances social impact against risk at both a portfolio and project level. Furthermore, they will utilise their understanding and experience in risk management to recommend and operate within agreed tolerances.

The Successful Applicant

To be eligible you will have worked in housing, property development or in the construction industry, operating at Executive Board level or similar with comparative volumes and responsibilities. Ideally you will have led large development and strategic asset management functions whilst working in an organisation of scale and complexity. Demonstrable success in building relationships at the highest level across a range of key stakeholders is essential, alongside a history of fostering innovation and new practice.

The successful candidate will also have a solid track record of exemplary leadership, fostering a culture of inclusiveness and diversity of thought and approach. You will be comfortable networking within and outside of the social housing sector to ensure the development of positive partnerships. Experience in creating cohesion and collaboration with your executive peers on the operating board will be an essential quality to ensure collective success for SNG's ambitious and exciting vision.

We believe this to be the most exciting opportunity of its kind currently in the market.
