You will be working for an organisation steeped in history. They have recently gone through a restructure within the business and now have a brand new position for the Cyber Security Engineer. Due to the type of organisation, this role will be based on site, in London and will sometimes involve travel to other sites.

Job Description

Cyber Security Engineer - Government Key responsibilities:

  • Continually evaluate, review and advise on current developments in all areas of cyber security and cyber threats
  • Apply appropriate security controls to all hardware and software assets
  • Proactively monitor networks and systems for evidence of potential threats
  • Lead response activities to minimise the impact of cyber incidents, including technical investigation into the root cause and extent of any damage
  • Deliver awareness training for employees on cyber security standards, policies, best practices, etc.
  • Ensure remediation work identified by IT Health Checks and Audits is undertaken
  • Provide constant review and improvement of cyber security policies, best practice and implementation against NIST CSF and CIS 20 Controls

Cyber Security Engineer - Government

  • Our client is looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer who is self-motivated and has the drive to improve standards across Cyber Security and IT in general
  • A proven ability to identify, investigate and remediate complex cyber security issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills supported with excellent written and verbal communication
  • An expert in IT Risk Management with practical experience of delivering risk and information system control management and strategies
  • Resilient, agile and driven, able to manage the day-to-day detail whilst implementing improvements and supporting wider team objectives.
  • Excellent planning skills and the ability to effectively organise a varied and reactive workload.
  • An enquiring mind with the intellectual rigour to grasp relevant issues, understand complexity and risk quickly
  • Drive to develop appropriate solutions and improvements in order to improve cyber security and resilience.
  • To be able to provide clear and concise advice to non-technical colleagues regarding information security.
