About Our Client
Warwickshire County Council has a well established and strong Civil Engineering Design team which is responsible for developing, designing and project managing the delivery of capital works ranging from minor road, bridge, traffic signal and drainage repairs to large scale major road infrastructure improvement schemes.
Job Description
As the Delivery Lead - Engineering Design Services, you will be responsible for heading up and leading a 100 strong team of engineers and technical staff who deliver a series of complex and challenging capital projects throughout the county.
You will oversee a very diverse portfolio and will have a budget responsibility of circa £8m of revenue and £80m of capital programme.
You will work closely with both your own team and external partners from the private sector to deliver a programme of projects annually as well as develop and advance design future year schemes.
Examples of projects that are currently ongoing include:
- A46 Stoneleigh Junction: A £38m scheme to install an additional bridge over the A46 to create significant improved junction capacity.
- Bermuda Connectivity Project: £10m scheme to improve congestion on the A444.
- Kenilworth to Leamington Cycle Project £4.7m
- A46 Link Road circa £80m
- Europa Way improvements circa £26m
Warwickshire County Council have adopted a very successful programme of developing talent internally within this professional service team and it will be essential that you have a passion for growing and coaching staff, including developing apprentices through to professional civil engineering qualifications.
As the team move to a more agile working it will of course be important to develop and drive operational systems that will allow staff to work from home effectively whilst continuing to promote a high performance culture and ultimately a culture that facilitates the team to effectively deliver on the capital programmes.
The Successful Applicant
Warwickshire County Council are seeking a proven leader who has the experience of managing a large team of professional staff and who has a proven track record of delivering a diverse portfolio of work.
You will be a Chartered Civil Engineer with strong working knowledge of DMRB and local authority design standards. This will include experience of local authority procurement and NEC3 contract management.
You will be tasked with building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholder groups both internally and externally so you will need to have a proven track record of managing complex relationships and being politically aware.
Ultimately this role requires a leader who is focused on delivery but can also work strategically to ensure that the right infrastructure and resources are in place for the long term success of the authority.
What's on Offer
A salary of £73,000 - £83,000 is on offer to the successful candidate as well as an excellent benefits package which includes an industry leading pension scheme.
