Job Description

UX Consultant to own the user experience of our brand-new website. You'll be responsible for marrying up diverse end-user objectives with the internal ambitions of the organisation in respect of student experience, commercial goals, and performance. Along with our Transformation Lead, you'll work closely with a cross-functional team of product experts, engineers, analysts and SMEs, and collaborate with the wider university community and operations teams to ensure we develop exactly the right solution for our users. This role is equal parts strategic and hands-on.

  • You will design and lead workshops, run usability testing, and undertake research to understand the problem and help identify the solution the Programme team needs to create. You will be responsible for the experience design vision for the website and any associated content platforms.
  • Reporting to the Transformation Lead (Web Product Manager) you will work with a dedicated team, including the product owner, UI designers, business analysts, technical architects, project manager and a team of developers, to define the product vision and inform technical development.
  • You will be matching business objectives and requirements with user needs and create frictionless user journeys
  • You will be conducting user research across multiple audiences, including usability testing and translating findings into actions
  • You will be running innovation, design, and UX workshops, including ideation, card sorting and customer journey mapping and prototyping
  • You will be responsible for producing a wide range of user experience assets, including user personas, customer experience maps and information architectures and testing these using a variety of techniques including online user-testing tools

You will also help define, implement, and evolve the tools and processes used to measure website success, including how we run experiments, analyse data, and serve active users as part of a continuous improvement lifecycle

The Successful Applicant

Excellent prototyping and wireframing skills (using Sketch/Axure/InVision or other prototyping tools)

The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team to help shape a Minimum Viable Product and ensure high levels of interaction design are bought to life

Experience working with and/or creating design systems and UX guidelines

Experience in using various data to analyse user behaviour and product performance, ideally through high level UI driven tools or tag management egg, Optimizely, Semrush, Google Analytics/GTM, Data Studio, Tealium etc
