Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior financial analyst to join the team that will oversee, monitor and assure the transition. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role across different areas of the transition helping to inform decision-making and the implementation of an effective transition which will span a 22-month period.

The Economic and Forecasting Manager will lead on the financial and economic components of the transition, providing analysis and modelling of data to help inform decisions associated with transition costs and working with a team to help operationalise the regulatory approach. For example, developing the approach to analysing the forecasting methodologies for sales and returns, and ongoing analysis of the cost and other data.

Alongside key partners, you will also play a central role in the application of the Full Business Case, particularly relating to the costs for the full Licence period and the benefits realisation plan.* It's about providing assurance: You will have responsibility for monitoring and tracking costs during the transition period, eg, identifying and analysing changes in the treatment, level or allocation of costs and making recommendations to senior stakeholders on cost recovery* It's about forecasting: you will lead on the assessment of the scheduling and forecasting methodologies; and, proposing monitoring arrangements for actual revenue and other data required to support effective transition and regulation.* It's about planning: working with the Finance Business Partner and Regulation Readiness team, you will help ensure that the Full Business Case (and associated funding) is appropriately applied to the future management model; and development of an evaluation plan to measure benefits realisation (for Gate 5 IPA review when evaluation / benefits realisation plan needs to be developed for approval).* It's about regulation: you will support the establishment of the financial and economic monitoring activities, to help facilitate assurance and other reporting requirements.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be heavily into the detail and numbers and be able to provide fairly complex data into everyday language that none finance/economic specialists can understand.

It is expected that you will have an Economics Degree and have some industry experience working with different methodologies and econometric principles including forecasting.
