The client is a blue-chip process manufacturer based in Wakefield.

Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will be based at the Wakefield site to:

  • Carry out frequency based Electrical planned routine maintenance plans to required standards across all areas of the site and rectify any issues found.
  • Diagnose Electrical breakdown causes and repair efficiently and effectively.
  • Carry out PLC and Scada based equipment installations as required to current organisational and regulatory standards, and be involved in or familiar with any project plans for the installation of new equipment.
  • Modify and improve equipment, plant and processes.
  • Calibrate instrumentation including weighing systems, flow control, level indicators etc.
  • Support and contribute to the development of safe systems of work ensuring that Company health and safety standards are complied with and safe working practices are always adopted.
  • Carry out mechanical/electrical maintenance within defined scope.
  • Provide Electrical technical advice, training support and information to departmental managers, supervisors, staff and external contractors relating to electrical/mechanical systems and equipment
  • Carry out effective housekeeping of workshop, pump bay, stores and plant areas affected by maintenance activities.
  • Be proactive in any business process improvement initiatives and be aware of equipment performance trends such as efficiency, quality and waste.
  • Take full responsibility for the quality of information recorded in the shift log and ensure the information is communicated to appropriate colleagues at shift change.

The Successful Applicant

The Electrical Engineer will have:

  • Knowledge and operation of PLC/computer controlled equipment (essential for electrical bias)
  • Good understanding of programming and fault finding/interrogation of Mitsubishi/Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC/computer controlled equipment (essential for electrical bias)
  • Knowledge and operation of ABB robotics equipment (essential for electrical bias)
  • Basic programming and fault finding/interrogation of ABB robotic equipment
  • Knowledge and experience of working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge and experience of mechanical fitting, plumbing and pipe work


  • Recognised electrical/mechanical apprenticeship
  • Appropriate recognised multi-skilled qualification


  • Relevant electrical/mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, practice and procedures
  • Instrumentation calibration experience (essential for electrical bias)
  • Multi-skilled, mechanical/electrical maintenance experience
