Assist the SFBP with the preparation of annual revenue estimates, monitoring of income and expenditure and annual closedown of accounts. Provide financial support to the Head(s) of Service, responding to ad hoc and routine requests for information. Support with the management of the Capital Programme budgets, including monitoring income and expenditure, co-ordination of capital bids, government returns and annual closedown of accounts.

Job Description

  • Assist with the preparation of annual revenue estimates.
  • Meet with budget holders to discuss their budget requirements.
  • Produce regular, timely and appropriate management information to the Service Managers, Heads of Service and Directors.
  • Advise on various financial matters as requested by the Senior Finance Business Partner.
  • Preparation of quarterly income and expenditure monitoring reports for Corporate Management Team and Members.
  • Assist with the preparation of Committee reports.
  • Complete reconciliations between systems relevant to their designated service area.
  • Provide accurate and timely information for Members, Directors, Heads of Service and Service Managers as requested.
  • Participate in the activities associated with the closedown of the Council accounts and assist in the preparation of draft final accounts.
  • Manage the Earmarked Reserves for the relevant services areas.
  • Maintain reports for Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy and ensure transactions are allocated correctly to schemes.
  • Responsible for monitoring all income and expenditure on the capital programme and to amend budgets in accordance with the approved programme.
  • Ensure all expenditure coded to capital is appropriate for that scheme.
  • Work with the Council in the production of any capital and revenue bids, including the calculation of any Minimum Revenue Provision.
  • Provide accurate and timely information for Members, Directors, Heads of Service and Service Managers as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of all leases held by Redditch Borough Council and Bromsgrove District Council, to ensure they are correctly dealt with in each Councils accounts.
  • Complete various financial and statistical returns as directed by the Senior Finance Business Partner or Chief Accountant.
  • Participate in the activities associated with the closedown of the Council accounts and to assist in the preparation of the draft accounts.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Finance Business Partner should have:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Solid knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
  • Strong analytical skills to drive business improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders.
