About Our Client

Our client are a privately owned, SME manufacturing business.

Job Description

Manage, train and develop the existing finance team comprising of 3 employees covering all ledger

functions - sales and purchase ledger / credit control / cashbook / cash forecasting / foreign exchange /

processing and management of bank bonds and guarantees.

· Preparation and analysis of the monthly management accounts and MI reports for effective understanding

of the company financial performance.

· Completion of regular reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.

· Manage the accurate reporting and forecasting of project revenue, costs and margins, through working

closely with the commercial team.

· Preparation of annual budget and periodic (quarterly and ad hoc) forecasts including a focus on identifying

profit improvement actions. Monitoring and reporting on performance against budget and advising

budget holders.

· Production of year-end accounts and managing the annual audit.

· Completion of VAT Returns and oversee other tax and duty submissions to the relevant tax authorities.

· Preparation of annual R&D tax credit application, working closely with internal Technical Director and R&D

Manager and external advisors.

· Monthly review and approval of payroll (processed by external bureau).

· Organise and lead (alongside the Group Procurement Manager) periodic stock takes and cycle counting

activities to drive the improvement of stock management and accuracy across the business.

· Development of system and business processes improvements and any other ad-hoc project work to

improve the provision of information for decision making and to deliver efficiencies within the finance


The Successful Applicant

· Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with at least 3 years post qualification experience.

· Detailed and highly developed analytical skills with the ability to process and summarise high volumes of

numerical data. Well-developed Excel skills.

· Manufacturing background and with experience in contract accounting being highly desirable.

· Experience of managing a Finance Team.

· Proactive with a 'hands on' attitude and approach.

· Team player and keen to get involved with the business.

· Open, honest and respectful.
