My client are one of the North West's most well-known employers who have a history of hiring ACA qualified Accountants coming out of Practice and taking their first step into Industry. The business contributes a few billion pound to the UK economy every year and also has investments in several other businesses and is expanding internationally too.

Job Description

  • Primary responsibility for the preparation of the Group half year and full year financial statements under IFRS, for presentation to the Board and Audit Committee and inclusion in the externally published interim and annual reports and accounts.
  • Preparation of the full year financial statements under new UK GAAP (FRS 102) for 40+ legal entities.
  • Provide complete, accurate and timely IFRS and new UK GAAP (FRS 102) accounting expertise and advice.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base and utilise this to both evaluate the potential impact of operational / commercial changes on the group and company accounts and identify appropriate accounting treatments and options.
  • Provide ongoing accounting support to divisional finance teams / FP&A / commercial teams to ensure any accounting implications are factored into commercial decision appraisals, and the impact on and options for reporting are understood.

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA qualified accountant, with 0-2 years post qualification experience
  • Technically strong in IFRS and new UK GAAP (FRS 102) accounting
  • Able to work with multiple priorities to tight deadlines
  • Proactive with a keen interest in developing knowledge of other areas of the business, fully aware of the importance of providing an excellent service to key stakeholders within the business and across finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Good project management experience
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse large volumes of data
  • Seeks to instil a culture of continuous development and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems (BW, ECC, BPC) is desirable
