Job Description

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Lead the business through the annual planning and budgeting cycle
  • Lead the budgeting across P&L, balance sheet and cash flow; coordinating the process across the finance department
  • Own the financial forecast process and monitor risks and opportunities
  • Produce key figures, drivers and assumptions throughout the process for board discussion
  • Longer term financial planning - five years business plan/outlook

Strategic Planning:

  • Supporting the business through strategic decision-making process
  • Business partnering with the senior management team to identify and evaluate investment opportunities and prepare appropriate business cases
  • Post-completion review and monitoring of investment projects with financial modelling including payback and ROI etc

Financial Control & reporting:

  • Overseeing all internal reporting and leading on a programme of change for improvement, standardisation and automation
  • Production of consolidated management accounts and financial reports including narrative and variance analysis
  • Preparation of group consolidated statutory accounts and managing the annual audit
  • Support the CFO in management of the group's banking and financing relationships including reporting to lenders, monitoring of covenant compliance and regular KYC
  • Responsibility for corporation tax forecasting, compliance and strategy
  • Overseeing accounting and reporting for fixed assets, utilities, rent payable, business rates
  • Preparation of corporation tax figures and supporting external tax advisors with filing of yearly returns
  • Responsibility for continual review of the controls environment within the business, implementing changes to protect the business as necessary
  • Responsible for periodic review of all balance sheet control accounts of operating divisions, maintaining accurate risk and opportunities schedule

The Successful Applicant

  • A professional accounting qualification, ideally gained in practice (ACA/ ACCA)
  • Advanced IT skills in Excel to macro level
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have good commercial awareness
  • Demonstrate analytical and commercial thinking
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation which are necessary to effectively carry out your role
