My client is a global manufacturing business who are industry-leaders designing and delivering beautiful, innovative products to last a lifetime. They are looking to grow their manufacturing team in Darwen by recruiting an Assistant Manager.

Job Description

The successful Assistant Supervisor will:

  • Supporting the Production Supervisors in the day to day running of one or two departments at a time
  • Work with Production Supervisors to ensure resources are balanced during periods of high absence, sickness and holidays
  • Ensure that departments comply with SOPs, quality standards and health & safety procedures
  • Communicate business updates to teams, set expectations for the day and discuss any issues from previous day
  • Participate in daily / weekly / monthly production meetings
  • Conduct Return to Work interviews with operatives following periods of absence
  • Support the Production Supervisors with investigations and disciplinaries
  • Assist the Production Supervisors in hiring new operatives, reviewing CVs, liaising with agencies and carrying out inductions
  • Work towards a multi-skilled team by training and developing operatives
  • Support CI activities to drive efficiency, waste reduction or yield improvement
  • Support the Production Supervisors with administrative tasks including updating SOPs, risk assessments, accident investigations, inductions, absence reviews and disciplinaries
  • Cover for the Production Supervisors when required
  • Attend training courses as and when required

The Successful Applicant

We are looking to speak to candidates who have/are:

  • Experience in at least one of the following departments would be beneficial; plaster shop, casting, spraying or despatch
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, written and verbal
  • Ability to lead and motivate others
  • A practical approach with good problem-solving skills
  • Experience of inducting and training others
  • Supportive and reliable in approach
  • Is willing to undertake training to develop in role
