A market leading food manufacturing business that has expanded its UK presence and is keen for some alignment across the sites to improve the management of projects, budgets and purchasing. This is very much about evolution rather than revolution, however, the nature of the production environment, requires fast decisions.

Job Description

  • To ensure the efficiency of the plant and machinery is maximised through the implementation of best-in-class engineering practices.
  • Drive a consistent engineering approach across sites, including CMMS, training, service and compliance standards.
  • Strategic development of the sites, from a Capital, Project and Asset Utilisation perspective.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture.
  • Monitoring and implementing improvements in production down time and costs.
  • Development of an effective preventive maintenance scheme and implementation.
  • Control the maintenance budget and capital budget.
  • Ensure projects are implemented using best practices and fully involving the wider team.
  • Work with the team to design, assess and implement a range of capital projects.
  • Management of the maintenance team and contractors.
  • Plan, assist and manage the purchasing of new machinery and parts, installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • To ensure the Health, Safety and welfare of the company's employees, visitors and customers through the delivery of a professional Engineering function that applies up to date best practice.
  • To maintain the highest standards of product safety and quality, and demonstrating effective compliance with all legal requirements. Through a process of continuous improvement, the Company will always strive to better the products and services it provides.
  • Provide accurate, timely and professional reporting at operational management meetings

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Min 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably a background within food and Drink within a dynamic high volume and progressive manufacturing environment (FMCG)
  • To possess strong leadership and team building skills
  • To be persuasive with influencing and relationship management skills
  • To have excellent facilitation and coaching skills
  • To be assertive and decisive and able to gain respect and consensus from a cross functional team
  • To possess an energetic drive for results, with a passion for quality, continually raising the bar
  • To possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • To be a creative problem solver, decisive, analytical, willing to take the initiative
