Job Description
- Oversee and develop annual financial plans and quarterly forecasts, taking ownership and responsibility for the planning cycle including obtaining local sign off and leading discussions with counterparts
- Own and drive the 3 year plan, continually evaluating the needs of the business to drive improvements to the process and business strategy
- Drive continual improvements in the monthly forecasting cycle, ensuring management has the information they need to drive the business forward, proactively highlighting risks and opportunities
- Be the subject matter expert for approaches and enhancements to the planning process
- Responsibility for the monthly analysis and commentary, reviewing the output from the team and driving continual improvement
- Support and challenge business on strategic objectives, ensuring solutions are practical and meet the needs of internal customers and the broader manufacturing group
- Work with key cost centre owners on actuals vs budget including analysis of material variances
- Develop reporting and analysis standards to identify trends and drive continued improvement in processes and cost savings
- Challenge assumptions and quantify various strategic options, recording and measuring cost containment projects and reporting on impact of continuous improvement initiatives
- Work closely with Financial Reporting Manager and the Financial Reporting team to continually improve monthly analysis and reporting, ensuing that the finance function works as a cohesive unit
- Ensure sound business rationale is employed to support investments including monitoring and reporting on ROI
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will have a solid track record within the manufacturing sector particularly around cost control, productivity and commercial insight also working with/challenging manufacturing teams. You will have experience working within a change and improvement environment and delivering commercial outcomes as a result of previous partnering and challenge. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight reporting deadlines. You will understand the bigger picture and be proactive in the management of workload and team. You will be a qualified accountant who is naturally interested in adding value and driving through commercial acumen and insightful analysis. This is a pivotal role and will require stakeholder management at a senior level across finance and the wider business. The role will be office based 2 days per week but flexible on location of candidate as there are sites based across the UK.
