As the Head of Technical, you will be instrumental in leading the technical team and supporting the wider operation in delivering best practice quality standards.

Job Description

As the Head of Technical you will be supporting a cluster of factories in delivering best manufacturing process, practices and standards. This is a chance to drive quality improvements through effective management of your team and info sharing across sites, providing the technical expertise required to be considered in key business decisions and contribute to the operational strategy of the group. Key Responsibilities:

  • The group's operational sites maintain BRC standards
  • Ensuring the sites have appropriate systems and procedures in place to maintain a high standard of food safety and quality
  • Ensuring sufficient technical resources are deployed throughout the operations
  • Ensuring due diligence is in place against all suppliers according to documented risk assessments
  • Aligning technical and procurement teams with regard to supplier approval
  • Embedding a process that ensures customer and consumer complaints are investigated in a timely manner and accurately reported to the Business
  • Suitable horizon scanning to pre-empt technical/legislation changes and ensure they are addressed by the business in a timely manner
  • Ensuring Business is up to date regarding proposed changes to UK legislation and has plans in place to embrace changing requirements
  • Ongoing training of the technical team to a high standard and ensure they are appropriately qualified for their roles
  • Supporting with the outlining training needs throughout the business to ensure that food safety requirements are suitably understood
  • Engaging the technical departments and ensuring alignment to the group's operational strategy
  • Supporting NPD processes by offering technical insight, taking into account in house capability and involvement in identifying third party suppliers/resources

The Successful Applicant

A Group Technical Manager/Head of Technical with multi-site food manufacturing experience & the following:

  • Good technical knowledge of raw materials, process, customer and industry requirements
  • Used to achieving and maintaining BRC and other external accreditations
  • Proven people management capability
  • Effective, proven communication and influencing skills at all levels
  • Strong written communication capability
  • Analytical and effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload for yourself and team
