My client are a renewables specialist organisation, leading the UK's floating solar sector and developing brownfield sites to create opportunities including sustainable homes and commercial buildings of the future, based in and across London.

Job Description

As the Health and Safety Lead - Renewables, you will be responsible for the below:

  • Key to this role will be creating the Health and Safety strategy and culture, working closely with all colleagues in the growing organisation
  • As an instrumental role within the organisation, you will need to work with others in a constructive and enthusiastic manner
  • Create an overarching H&S Strategy that is approved by the Board
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update H&S policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with regulations
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and follow H&S guidance and policies
  • Develop Operational H&S policies and standards for the office, development/construction, and operational sites
  • Develop and maintain an effective Health and Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • Function as the H&S Competent person
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant H&S and fire legislation, regulations, and standards
  • Stay current with all relevant H&S laws, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with all H&S requirements
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to the HSE or other governing bodies
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, including new employee inductions
  • Keep employees informed of changes in H&S procedures and regulations
  • Promote H&S awareness and a safety-oriented culture throughout the organisation

The Successful Applicant

The successful Health and Safety Lead - Renewables will need the following:

  • You will need to be technically strong with ideally over 10 years of H&S experience
  • A record in delivering excellence in Health & Safety
  • Be able to work alone or as part of a team and can develop effective business support relationships
  • Able to get to and around London on a regular basis
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 / ISO9001 / ISO14001
  • CMIOSH, with at least 5 years post-qualification experience
  • Degree in H&S
  • Extensive record of working in a H&S role within water, utilities, or critical national infrastructure environment.
  • Ideally with process safety experience
  • Knowledge, experience, and relevant subject matter expertise relating to specific risks in either Water, Waste, Renewable Projects
  • Experience and understanding of H&S, quality & environmental issues in construction
  • Understanding of the construction procedures and processes
  • Proven record of building excellent relationships with internal key stakeholders and the ability to negotiate in a flexible and constructive way at the highest levels
