We are seeking an In‑House Employment Lawyer to join an in-house legal team in Leeds. You'll lead on advisory and tribunal work, partner with HR, and drive employment law compliance across the business.

Job Description

The In‑House Employment Lawyer will be:

  • Providing day‑to‑day legal advice to HR and business leaders on employment law issues (redundancy, restructuring, disciplinary, grievance, discrimination, equal opportunities etc)
  • Managing tribunal claims and contentious employment litigation from start to finish
  • Advising and executing TUPE transfers, reorganisations and secondments
  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing employment contracts, settlement agreements, HR policies and procedures
  • Keeping abreast of legislative change and ensuring the business remains compliant
  • Delivering training sessions and workshops (for HR, line managers, leadership)
  • Contributing to strategic workforce planning and legal risk prevention initiatives

The Successful Applicant

The In‑House Employment Lawyer should be:

  • A solicitor (or equivalent) with 3+ years' PQE in employment law
  • Experienced in both contentious and non‑contentious employment matters
  • Skilled in advising on discrimination/equal ops, redundancy, disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Experienced in TUPE, reorganisations and consulting/structuring changes
  • Comfortable with union / collective relations (experience a strong advantage)
  • Preferably with prior in‑house or secondment experience
