Job Description

The HR Manager is responsible for the management, development, and promotion of the human resources function at their allocated sites, managing a small team.

  • To advise a range of managers on all human resources management issues; including workforce planning, organisational restructuring, staff recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
  • Manage the recruitment process bearing in mind the Trust's values and behaviours.
  • Manage learning and development requirements.
  • To respond to local and national needs and review and embed changes to legislation and policy.
  • To ensure that there is a smooth appointment process for applicants and that all of the appropriate vetting checks are conducted with rigour and confidence, and ensuring that processes are compliant with Ofsted, CQC, Estyn and meet the needs of local authority monitoring visits at all times.
  • To provide detailed advice on the handling of grievance, disciplinary, harassment, performance and sickness absence matters and where necessary act in a mediation role to seek to resolve disputes.
  • To manage absence and to provide advice and guidance to managers on absence management ensuring compliance with respective policies and procedures, and attend welfare visits and co-ordinate occupational health issues.
  • To be a key stakeholder and sit on the equality and diversity working groups across the Trust.

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this HR Manager role you will need to be/have:

  • Experience at manager level in a similar, values driven environment
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of providing employee relations advice across a broad remit
  • A track record of managing an HR operational Service in a similar regulated environment
  • CIPD or equivalent qualification and experience is desirable but not essential
  • Effective knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice and its practical application
  • Significant experience of managing complex casework and developing others within the HR team to increase their knowledge, skills and experience
  • Experience of delivering training and other learning interventions
  • Good IT skills and experience of using HR systems
