Job Description

The key responsibilities of the HR Support Officer will be:

  • Provide advice, support and assistance to managers and staff to ensure consistent application and understanding of HR policies and processes, and interpretation and application of terms and conditions of service
  • To manage the processes and administration connected to the employee lifecycle (recruitment, on-boarding, employee relations, terms and conditions)
  • To support the HR Advisor in the delivery of HR objectives and KPI's as part of the Organisation's OD/HR Strategy
  • To be the first point of contact for HR enquiries providing support where appropriate, or signposting enquiries to the appropriate point
  • To provide information and advice about the correct application of HR policies and processes within the remit of experience. Escalate as appropriate
  • To provide support and advice to people managers on routine casework, recruitment and training activity
  • Populate and maintain on-line employee records of HR, GDPR and DBS systems to meet statutory and local reporting requirements
  • Liaise with payroll and systems officers to ensure an integrated and efficient HR/Payroll process
  • Act as HR representative, during local consultations for organisational change under the guidance of the Senior HR Lead/HR Advisor
  • Provide professional and administrative support in formal processes such as investigations, hearings etc
  • To support the HR team with ad hoc projects as appropriate
  • To foster positive working relationships across the organisation and with relevant partners.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the HR Support Officer role will have the following skills or experience:

  • The ability to effectively organize your own workload and priorities
  • Experience of a range of ICT Systems (ideally ITrent)
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relations at all levels across the organisation
  • Principles of employment law
  • A customer focused approach
  • Understanding of cultural change, organisational behaviours and values
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, using the right method
  • Well developed diplomatic, listening skills with the ability to influence
  • Able to work with others to get the job done well
  • Able to challenge the norm and find ways to improve
  • Evidence of continuous learning
