Job Description
The key responsibilities as the Health & Safety Business Partner - Construction are as follows:
- To proactively work with the business to ensure high standards of H&S behaviours
- To develop and maintain highly interactive relationships, to embed oneself across the business with key stakeholders through the use of strong influencing skills
- To assist in the provision of operational health and safety support and advice to managers and front line staff to ensure they are safe and healthy at work
- To provide specialist advice and guidance on construction related activities. This will be up to 30% of the role and there will be a specific focus on CDM as part of this
- To contribute to policies, procedures and reports as required
- To carry out inspections, audits and incident investigations as required and ensure remedial actions are followed through by action owner
- To analyse and extrapolate information from management information to support managers to drive improvements in their teams
- To create engaging and informative health and safety communications for staff and customers
- To support in the delivery of internal and external health and safety training
- To ensure the safety of our customers through site visits and inspections
The Successful Applicant
The successful Health & Safety Business Partner - Construction will need the following:
- Current understanding of relevant health and safety at work legislation
- An appropriate construction related qualification, an H&S qualification such as NEBOSH diploma and professional membership and / or extensive experience in a similar role
- Demonstrable construction experience ideally in a housing association or similar organisation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make decisions considering the potential impact on staff and our customers
- Has attention to detail and able to complete projects in a timely manner
- Able to plan own work and use initiative to continually improve H&S culture
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft programmes and significant experience of working with H&S systems including creating audits, closing out actions and extrapolating meaningful data in collaboration with system provider
- Effective and engaging presentation of toolbox talks, training or briefings
- Be prepared to undertake extensive, regular travel across mostly West and North London areas and into Buckinghamshire
- Current full driving licence and own transport
