Job Description

As the Interim Electrical & Asbestos Compliance Manager the key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Be the lead named Contract Manager for the asset services delivered by your contractors. Assets may include electrical testing, electrical compliance, and asbestos management
  • Be a strong, consistent and effective client, managing and challenging contractor performance in a constructive way
  • Chair and co-ordinate contract management meetings and demonstrate compliance with good practice and standards of contract management
  • Maintain the contract record including the approvals for any contract variations
  • Manage the risks relating to suppliers and their engagement (GDPR, financial robustness, safeguarding etc)
  • Ensure the housing association meets its legal, regulatory and corporate obligations for the assets under your management, including those in residential properties, commercial properties and occupied offices
  • Provide regular performance reports and develop and maintain systems for monitoring performance and escalating risks and issues promptly
  • Actively participate in maintaining and regularly reviewing policy, procedures and processes to deliver cost effective services and address key areas of risk
  • Ensure responsive repairs completed by your portfolio of contractors are carried out promptly, to a high standard and cost effectively
  • Have oversight of, and co-ordinate with, technical professionals to make commercial and risk management decisions relating to the assets under your management
  • Contribute to the procurement and evaluation of contracts and develop the contract specification as required, drawing on appropriate technical input to ensure these contracts support compliance with legislation, regulations and good practice

The Successful Applicant

As the Interim Electrical & Asbestos Compliance Manager, you will need the following:

  • Contract management - including experience of building and maintaining relationships with contractors and stakeholders to continually improve the service
  • Experience of managing contracts that include a requirement to meet statutory compliance
  • A good understanding of the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience of leading, managing and motivating teams
  • Analytic skills - Internal data (incl. spend, performance, assets etc) - Market (incl. trends, providers, value drivers etc)
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Understanding of the procurement process and Public Contract Regulations
  • Electrical compliance management
  • Asbestos management
  • Asbestos qualifications preferred
  • Ability to get to London as and when required
