About Our Client

NHS Resolution is an arm's-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care. We provide expertise to the NHS on resolving concerns and disputes fairly, sharing learning for improvement and preserving resources for patient care.

We are currently going through an exciting IT transformation led by the organisation's Chief Information Officer. The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate, (DDaT) is an exciting high performing function with a challenging programme of work and a department structure aimed at progression, development and high operational and strategic outputs. As a result we are looking for talented DDaT professionals to join us on this journey.

Job Description

  • Responsible for management of complex technical problems which may impact the Engineering Service, and liaison with associated third party organisations, often working under pressure during significant IT problems.
  • Ability to discuss technical issues with end users, which may involve converting technical terms into everyday language to ensure understanding.
  • Delivery of scheduled reports to highlight emerging technology issues and to identify trends in service up to the Lead IT Engineer.
  • Communication of scheduled and un-scheduled Infrastructure activities that impact performance or availability of core systems.
  • Presents complex / technical data, which may hold sensitive and or contentious information to the Engineering Team and to IM&T Suppliers. Contentious information would normally include systems architecture and design which is controversial with IM&T Suppliers to fit business requirements.
  • Acts as a point of escalation for technical incidents from NHS Resolution IM&T system users, this will involve taking ownership and responsibility for incidents and, resolving issues in accordance with operational procedures and any service level agreements.
  • Deal with vulnerabilities to resolution on the network and its systems, considering the implications. This includes patch management, firmware updates and vulnerabilities either within existing systems or new systems.
  • Proactive identification and vulnerability management for all IT Infrastructure, this includes but not limited to external network security, desktop applications, server applications. Service Development
  • To design, implement and maintain NHS Resolution's IM&T infrastructure service, ensuring these services are of a high quality and, are reliably provided to ensure IM&T is supporting NHS Resolution in achieving its vision.

The Successful Applicant

  • Post Graduate Qualification or equivalent relevant experience or specialist training
  • Vendor qualifications/professional certifications or equivalent experience
  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE 2)
  • In-depth understanding of the latest IT infrastructure technologies, products and best practices
  • Detailed knowledge of Local and Wide Area Network principals and associated security
  • Detailed knowledge of: Cloud Services (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS); Office 365; E-mail Systems, Exchange environment, Content filtering, TLS, Mobile Device Management; Internet browsing and content filtering; All external facing systems; VPN Services, IPSec, SSTP, CheckPoint, SSL, Pulse; Terminal Services; Server virtualisation - Vmware, HyperV, Veeam; SAN Infrastructure Management NetApp/HP; Certificate Authority; Cisco Routers and Cisco Switches; Firewalls; Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, WINS, Replication, Sites; Time Synchronisation across the network; UPS Management; Security Systems - Antivirus, USB Encryption, Bit-Locker; Management, testing and application of Updates for Servers/Appliances and Clients; SQL database management; Backup management; Cyber Security and IT Security; SharePoint Maintenance and Infrastructure Development
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation
  • Experience of designing and implementing Enterprise-wide backup and archiving solutions
  • Experience of designing and implementing OS patching solutions
  • Experiencing of implementing and managing Active Directory
  • Experience in managing virtualised environments
  • Experience in creating technical documentation
  • Significant experience of IT systems management
  • Experience of analysing, interpreting, solving and explaining complex system issues to a nontechnical system users in a clear and concise way
  • Cloud Services experience
