About Our Client

A Global Maritime Service Provider with offices across the world that is headquartered in Glasgow is looking to add an IT Manager to their expanding IT function. This is a management position that owns and manages all aspects of the IT Department globally.

It oversees and directs the day-to-day activities of IT teams ensuring that systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely and meet business needs. The IT manager provides guidance and leadership to the IT department and its technicians.

Job Description

The role requires managing a large multi discipline globally distributed team providing an extensive range of IT services to a group of diverse companies with a wide variety of business needs.

Required to take complex business challenges and problems then develop high level solutions and plans for effective remediation then identify relevant technical specialists required to expand into detailed proposals for implementation. Oversea the subsequent implementation of these plans to ensure business challenges are adequately addressed.

Act as a final escalation point for operational issues in IT making decisions based on information provided by business and technical resource.

  • Manage and continuously improve IT service delivery across the Group of companies
  • Interact with the Group Head of Business Systems to ensure clear definition of IT service delivery to group
  • Manage performance objectives and KPI's for IT as they are put forward by the company
  • Manage the operation of the IT strategy which aligns with business unit strategy across group business units.
  • Define and adjust IT standards and technologies to meet Group needs
  • Ensure IT governance is in line with all industry and Group benchmarks
  • Manage IT budget and always provide business value by ensuring TCO figures and ROI match the company's expectations
  • Oversea effective management of IT Contracts and Vendor relationships and co-ordinate where possible with Tendering Committee
  • Work as a member of the Data Compliance Team to manage and ensure group compliance with GDPR
  • Work with the management team to define and implement an effective Security strategy and improve awareness of Security at all levels of the organisation.
  • Devising and establishing IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by management.

The Successful Applicant

Expected to work with an IT Management team to implement and manage strategies and plans to continuously improve IT service delivery. E.g. Implementation of new technologies to reduce costs and bring new IT capabilities to all users in the business improving efficiency.

Evolve existing and as required define new policies and procedures to ensure secure, efficient and effective management of IT throughout the organisation.

Apply experience and knowledge to make quick and sound decisions in a high pressure fast changing environment.

Manage, develop and motivate a team of experienced IT professionals to align IT capability with IT Strategy and business requirements.

With that in mind we are looking for the following;

  • Experience with system installation, configuration and analysis
  • Thorough hands-on knowledge of networks and cloud computing
  • Knowledge of data protection operations and legislation (e.g. GDPR)
  • Be able to identify gaps in the team's knowledge and implement plans to close them
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience coaching and mentoring IT teams and other managers
