Client is a British multinational telecommunications holding company headquartered in London, England. It has operations in around 180 countries and is the largest provider of fixed-line, broadband and mobile services in the UK, and also provides subscription television and IT services.

Job Description

You will be responsible for managing the project portfolio, embedding best-practice ways of working across the function. We're looking for an experienced IT project manager who will help us to accelerate our delivery velocity across a team of 10-15 data scientists and data engineers.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for setting up and running complex projects with a range of different stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress of programme deliverables.
  • Responsible for setting and managing project deliverables e.g. KPIs, programme plans and risk registers.
  • Supporting data project teams during every stage of the development process, from set-up and planning through to delivery
  • Creating and delivering on technical project work plans, revising them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Managing progress of technical projects, ensuring team workflows are communicated and well-understood by different team members
  • Managing stakeholders from across the whole of the BT Business, in the UK and internationally, primarily technology and relevant stakeholders - e.g. legal, procurement, security and applied research teams.
  • Managing risks and mitigations and keeping an appropriate record.
  • Establishing and evaluating Key Performance Indicators.
  • Monitoring quality assurance and ensuring that code is properly documented and that iterative changes are reported and recorded for quality assurance
  • Ensuring that customer feedback is at the heart of product development.

The Successful Applicant

Skills required for the job:

  • Stakeholder management - you're comfortable working with a broad range of stakeholders (internal and external to BT) and have strong influencing skills to ensure that projects run effectively.
  • Understanding of software engineering - experience working in specialist technical teams, with a sound understanding of data products and services and delivery requirements (e.g. QA, tabling release cycles)
  • Familiar with GCP, Big Query and APIs
  • Agile - You have a good understanding of agile values, principles and methodology and are an ambassador for embedding agile into project teams. You have and promote a growth mindset.
  • Excellent communication - You simplify complex strategies, concepts and data using a simple, compelling and coherent narrative. You're comfortable communicating verbally and in writing to a range of different audiences.
  • Planning - ability to plan & prioritise workload, ensuring all given deadlines are met.
  • Reporting - You can create accurate, succinct, relevant and informative reporting about how the project is progressing using a range of reporting tools, e.g. Jira
  • Measuring effectiveness - You ensure that the project team has clear objectives and are responsible for tracking operational performance.
  • Self-starter - comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced working environment, working in a collaborative way.
  • Product and service knowledge - You have a good understanding of data products and services, preferably with experience of working with data scientists



The successful candidate needs to be technically astute and have a successful track record of delivering digital transformation projects
