Job Description

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing monthly close process, including the preparation of journals and review of financial statements and reconciliations
  • Preparation of forecasts/budgets followed by detailed analysis
  • Business partnering to operations teams
  • Preparation and monitoring performance of SOx controls at key reporting periods
  • Provision of effective financial analysis on the monthly logistics spend
  • Co-ordination of monthly close between different business streams and other parties involved; preparation of monthly accounting entries and reports; review of accounting entries and review and approval of monthly reconciliations
  • Monitoring performance of cost forecasts and budgets, with preparation of detailed financial analysis
  • Cash flow forecasting of supplier payments with upload to internal cash forecasting tool
  • Monthly spend analysis and presentation to Finance Manager in monthly P&L review meetings
  • Business partnering to supply chain operations, including support with projections/calculations where necessary
  • Acting as key Finance contact for 3rd party logistics service provider & intermediary warehouse providers
  • Acting as Finance contact for some suppliers and customers, for finance related queries
  • Co-ordination and attendance of European stock counts annually with external auditors
  • Management of costing and pricing inputs to SAP to ensure accuracy of financial data and records
  • Using SAP, assisting to resolve system-related issues and wider finance systems change support, including testing.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) accountant - newly qualified candidates will be considered, as will QBE candidates with relevant experience
  • Have prior experience in a similar, broad management accounting remit and possess strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrate experience of managing processes with internal and external stakeholders to maximise effective work relationships
  • Show the ability to help drive improved controls in core accounting areas, reviewing processes and actioning accordingly
  • Be a confident communicator, ideally with prior experience of effective liaison with both Finance and non-Finance staff
  • Ideally be familiar with a large company Finance team environment
  • Have good IT skills, including Excel - prior experience working with SAP systems will also be advantageous
  • Be available to start with preferably no longer than a one month notice period
