The Halebank site has around 100 employees and is an essential site in the Vertellus network, an Upper-Tier COMAH toll manufacturer of specialist Chemicals for the agricultural market.
The Operations Manager at our Halebank site will be responsible for leading the manufacturing team to ensure product is manufactured to the required quality, yield, cost and quantity to meet customer needs. Working in an Upper-Tier COMAH regulated environment you will take responsibility for the safety of your staff, ensuring employees are suitably trained and fully aware of their responsibilities. Through continual coaching and mentoring you will lead and develop shift managers to ensure they and their teams have the required support to achieve personal and company goals. The Operations Manager will lead quality, process and safety improvement activities, identifying and delivering improvement initiatives to positively impact product yield, quality and manufacturing efficiency. Reporting to the Site Director, the Operations Manager will work with engineering, EHS and project teams to understand complex challenges and opportunities, capable of carrying out route-cause analysis, making informed decisions to improve the maintenance and reliability of plant. A strong emphasis on improving asset reliability and enabling high performance for current and new processes will keep the successful candidate fully challenged as the Halebank site goes through a period of significant change.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will hold a technical degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Engineering. The successful person will be a strong hands-on leader having demonstrated leadership and coaching skills to enable change and create high performing teams. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of leadership in a highly regulated, unionised manufacturing environment. As the Operations Manager you will have a proven record of using six sigma / lean tools to successfully identify and implement business improvements. A track record in budgeting, and cost control techniques with the capability of presenting manufacturing performance to senior management is required.
