Job Description

The key responsibilities for the Procurement Manager - IT/Tech are:-

  • Develop and implement sourcing plans and activity across the technology category which cover a range of cloud, hosting and infrastructure sub-categories
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a technology category strategy to meet internal customers' needs, deliver first class value for the business and protect it from risk
  • Work collaboratively with other Procurement Managers and Senior Procurement Managers to make most effective use of the resources available across the procurement functions through a 'pooled resource' way of working
  • Maintain accurate and complete electronic records for designated contracts and projects and provide other contract and project data and insights where required in order to drive value or mitigate business risk
  • Apply technical negotiation expertise in the development and implementation of effective negotiation strategies to maximise value delivery or mitigate risk and be a commercial and contractual escalation point for business area customers and contract managers
  • Maximise contribution to cost reduction and the enablement of business transformation whilst protecting it from risk
  • Accountable for all 3rd party spend requirements related to designated contracts/sub category of spend (within a £40m-£400m annual spend category)

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:-

  • Track record of developing, building buy-in to and implementing compelling technology sourcing strategies

  • Proven ability to apply professional expertise to develop and implement innovative procurement solutions

  • Responds to challenging but achievable goals and supports and develops others in meeting theirs

  • Experience of managing multiple projects/project strands at once and working at pace to challenging deadlines

  • Skilled in program & change management and can demonstrate application

  • Effective problem solver with demonstrable experience in formal and informal contractual and commercial issue


  • Is a proven and effective negotiator and has been trained in negotiation principles.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to lead in cross-functional teams and confidently operate at senior levels with

    internal business customers and suppliers.
