Job Description

  • Develop strategies for the category within their portfolio alongside the Strategic Procurement Lead in line with the overall supply chain strategy
  • Identify select and manage strategic partners undertaking supplier and or sub contractors pre qualifications including due diligence, RFP's quotation analysis, subcontractor or supplier appraisals, tender reviews and recommendation reports to senior management
  • Take ownership and be accountable for the implementation of the strategies leveraging the supply chain, gaining a good understanding of total cost of ownership / value add, and secure value and efficiency savings to the business. Reporting cost savings, and other tangible benefits on the procurement value plan
  • Be an active role player in the procurement team metrics ie value plan, quality, health and safety, sustainability
  • Develop a quarterly dashboard for supply chain metrics
  • Act as an interface / facilitator on bids with the bids team to obtain all information to enable compliant bids that offer a competitive business solution that are value add and are in line with the client requirements without compromising the Company
  • Ensure risks and opportunities from capacity deep dives to security of supply are investigated and take ownership on mitigation and delivery of solutions as well as articulating opportunities whether it be innovation or taking more risk for benefit after an analysis has been completed
  • Ensure compliance to company and procurement policies and procedures and work within the business to communicate and provide governance on the policies and procedures. Ensure the business needs for the defined categories are met in terms of security of supply and regulatory compliance, quality, service, continuous improvement and are delivered for best value whilst mitigating risk
  • Seek, communicate, and drive process / product innovation within the existing and potential supply base and where necessary adopting a partnering via SRM approach to realise new opportunities and achieve competitive advantage and enhanced profitability for the Company
  • Develop and produce commercial agreements such as but not limited to: Frameworks, Product Supply Agreements, Professional Service Contracts
  • Lead Supply formal Contract reviews involving supply chain, SHEQ's and any appropriate business stakeholders whilst producing action plans and agreeing on outputs against agreed timescales
  • Maintain good market Intelligence acumen on the categories whilst clearly understanding micro and macro environments that may affect the provision of supply chain partners
  • Present key metrics to the business whether it be performance, issues, spend data sustainability and or other key metrics as identified by the clients or new strategies and ensure business needs are aligned
  • Share best practice whether it be process or supply chain info including synergies and cost benefits with other business units within the Group
  • Ensure risk mitigation and supply RFI's are conducted for future business (East Coast) as there is a current risk of security of supply and capacity issues within such a niche transmission market. Duties will include new diligence, supplier meetings to understand capability and relevant checks with regards to compliance and qualifications required for the task at hand
  • Assist with Non-conformance and lessons learned meetings whether it be during or post completion of the project (s) and tie in with the project manager and agree on output and remedy for the supply chain and implement any findings across the wider business
  • Ensure the supply chain is actively contributing to submitting project SOR's and encouraging their staff to promote this culture
  • Promote Company values and standards and behaviours whether it be internal or external
  • Categories allocated may include sub contracts, materials, and or plant and fleet. Flexibility is important.
  • To carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business

The Successful Applicant

  • 5yrs+ Procurement experience ideally working in a bids / category management environment
  • NEC4 Contract Management experience
  • Strong Supplier Relationship management
  • Team player
  • Adaptable to change
  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer relationship skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a very busy environment
  • Eye for detail and able to check own work effectively
  • Results focused and driven
  • Time management & problem solving
  • Excellent IT skills experience in Microsoft, Oracle, Powerpoint etc
  • High standards of quality and attention to detail
  • Perseverance
  • Adaptability to new processes, procedures & systems
