Based in Portwest's office in Manchester, as a Product Manager you will be responsible for, researching and developing commercial products for specified target markets
Creating conceptual mood boards, colour sketches and drawings of product designs
Calculating costs of new products using benchmarking
Be knowledgeable of new products using benchmarking
Manage the creation of proto-type samples
Present ideas and products to senior management and sales representatives
Work with sales team on customer special orders and give these priority at all times
Create detailed technical measurement and construction specifications
Arrange photography sessions of chosen product
Write marketing text for the sales brochure
Train and supervise junior staff on a variety of duties associated with product development.
Partner with team members at all production bases to create accurate samples and bulk production.
Inspect and fit pre-production and production samples to make sure all products are made correctly within production deadlines.
Communicate with overseas suppliers to identify and solve problems before they impact on production.
Monitor and track production until it is delivered to the warehouse.
Quality check random production samples at the warehouse.
Analyse sales data and make recommendations for future purchasing of product.
Communicate with sales representatives and customers on technical questions related to products.
Attend trade fairs, educational seminars and courses.
Make recommendations for the final selection of new products.
Visit customers and attend sales meetings as necessary
The Successful Applicant
The right candidate will have experience working as a Product Manager, or within in a similar role, and with a similar level of Technical Product.
You will have a degree level qualification in apparel design, construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
You must have strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Excel, being able to use both competently.
You will have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work very well with cross functional teams, including informing the sales team.
You will be able to manage product development across low to high complexity (e.g. Flame Resistant garments which must comply to multiple EN standards).
You are able to demonstrate a outstanding knowledge of fit and construction expertise.
