A London Headquartered Artificial Intelligence/Big Data software company, founded to make government organisations more productive at reviewing & watching video. Whether for Post Event investigations (e.g. after a Terrorist incident or a homicide) or in Real Time, often across very large camera networks, including cell phones & body worn cameras.

Job Description

The Senior Hardware Specialist, London, will:

  • Be responsible, together with the COO, for all product related hardware decisions in the Company
  • Be the interface between the Company, suppliers and customers for all hardware activities
  • Be responsible for hardware procurement & delivery across the business
  • Ensure all hardware is fit for purpose (including oversight of testing / QA)
  • Work with Procurement to ensure solutions are optimized and adhere to company strategy
  • Work with System Architects and front line Development to ensure hardware is optimised for company products
  • Devise optimal hardware architectures using a catalogue of available components, to ensure the best performance profile possible.

The Successful Applicant

The Senior Hardware Specialist, London, will have:

  • Experience managing teams to deliver enterprise grade hardware solutions at scale
  • Have at least 5 years experience in optimising hardware solutions to deliver max data throughput within big data systems (strong preference experience involves video)
  • Experience of delivering scalable and clear analytical tools to quantify, benchmark and present hardware performance
  • Have experience & be able to advise on numerous video storage solutions as well as storage architectures (including both distributed & centralised system architectures)
  • Experience of server design as well as rack assembly, (including all componentry and installations)
  • Experience in optimising rack architectures for increased performance
  • Ability to assess rack components for optimised performance
  • Knowledge of hardware environmental considerations as well as regulations
  • Engage with relevant company Teams when making hardware decisions
  • Cultivate & maintain strong relationships with suppliers and potential suppliers
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to ensure they are up to date and aware of the latest solutions. (they encourage thought leadership).
  • Ensure hardware decisions meet with corporate objectives (ethical supply, enterprise grade, suitable warranties, reliable providers etc.)
  • Work from the London office for up to a minimum of 3 days a week if required
  • Be willing & able to travel internationally, including occasionally for extended periods (although travel is not a core function of the role, it may be required)
  • Hold a valid U.K. or E.U. passport
  • Hold any valid visas (for U.K. & international travel)
  • Undergo & pass Security Background Checks in accordance with company policy

To stand out, it would be great if you have:

  • Experience in high performance Computer Gaming environments or processor manufacturers (e.g. AMD, NVIDIA, Intel) and/or with one of the large VMSs (Genetec / Milestone etc.)
  • At least 3 years experience working with high end Processors (both CPUs and GPUs) from different manufacturers
