Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsOffice of the Police & Crime Commissioner - West MerciaHindlip, WorcestershireAbout Our ClientOur client is the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner West Mercia.Job DescriptionTasks & responsibilities will include but not be limited to:To devise, develop and implement Health and Safety policy, protocols and best working practice in line with current H&S guidelines and legislation to ensure the safety of clients, colleagues, stakeholders, service users and visitors in and around the grounds, buildings, residential and office premises across the OPCC and HWFRS Estates.To advise OPCC Estates management Team, internal and external stakeholders on how best to ensure organisational compliance with Health and Safety legislation - developing and maintaining the necessary documents and digital records that describe the organisation's safety management systems and demonstrate its commitment to continuously improving H&S process and practice.To support and advise on the protocols for risk assessments, incident reporting, accident investigation and programmes of inspection to ensure that the WMP, HWFRS and OPCC Estates joint service organisations' liabilities in terms of health and safety are adequately addressed.To ensure compliance with all H&S risk assessment and incident reporting procedures is observed and that full and complete adherence to and administration of H&S records is undertaken by appropriate staff as required.Develop and monitor safe systems work including risk and method statements, permit to work, hot works and confined space etc. Develop auditing of safe systems of work process to ensure compliance across in house team and subcontracted supply chain for Facilities Management and Projects team.To investigate accidents, incidents, issues and "near miss" reports, conducting a thorough analysis of current approach and practice to identify the causes of problems, developing insight and understanding and making recommendations for change which will avoid and eliminate similar incidents, reduce risk and safeguard service users going forward.The Successful ApplicantThe ideal applicant for this role would be able to meet and demonstrate the below knowledge, skills and experience:Extensive knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, protocols and recommended best practice.A thorough and up-to-date understanding of safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies and Estates and Properties sector specific H&S guidelines is essential.A thorough understanding of health and safety and its practical application in the workplaceExperience of managing and supporting compliance with robust H&S protocols, policy and working practice in a large service organisation.Experience of supporting the diverse H&S needs of multi disciplinary service teams within a large organisation.Applicants will be expected to hold a Health & Safety qualification from NEBOSH or IOSH and it would be advantageous to have or be working towards Chartered status.The role is based at the head office in Hindlip, Worcestershire so we would expect applicants to live in or around the Worcestershire region.What's on OfferThe salary range for this role is £40,005 - £45,546 and you will also be enrolled on to a local government pension scheme.
