Based in Taunton this accountancy practice has developed an excellent reputation acting for varied and interesting clients across wide ranging sectors to include builders, consultants, property developers, architects, marketing, designers, television production, engineering, software developers as just some examples. The firm acts primarily for OMBs and corporate clients, wide ranging in turnovers up into the £millions with core range in the hundreds of thousands. Alongside this the firm has a strong tax offering servicing a large number of individuals, directors, HNWI and international tax cases. The firm offers a very hands on, team focused collaborative environment for all staff, with client portfolio management and responsibility with a range of qualified & QBE managerial support team, with associated more junior support staff around this. The Directors are seeking the right professional who can both take on the management and client relationship responsibility of a portfolio, whilst also acting as a lead, NO 2 support in this office with progression on offer for those looking for an opportunity offering this.
You will join as a Senior Manager with with potential for progression on offer based in Taunton taking responsibility for your own portfolio of mainly accounting and some tax clients, with full autonomy organising delivery and managing this portfolio. In addition to this your role will be effectively acting a right hand ' partner/director' in the business supporting three accounts managers in their work, as the client lead. You will be in charge of the office whilst directors are away and be responsible for helping them run the overall business, carving a key influential position within this firm. As some examples of the range of work and responsibilities you will hold, you will lead and meet with new clients eg start ups, explaining the relative merits of corporate and non-corporate models for instance and assist with business plans and review of management accounts, advising on extracting profits in a tax efficient manner. You will carry out final reviews of accounts and tax returns before sending to clients, for technical accuracy, financial reporting disclosures and tax planning points. On the tax side you might get involved with discussing disposal of properties for CGT purposes, advising on the tax consequences and planning for a business sale, dealing with tax enquiry work and outlining possible IHT issues on a general level. You will also work the directors on the growth and development of the firm attending networking events in the local business community for example. You may carve a key, long term position here as a highly valued 'No 2' salaried managerial support, but equally for those with career aspirations to progress into Director/partner levels, a clear path to achieve this is also on offer.
The Successful Applicant
You will be any of ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent qualified, with a strong background in accountancy practice, with skills across any of audit, accounts, tax etc, as an all round, general practitioner. You will have skills managing a portfolio of mixed clients of growing, profitable limited companies and OMBs up to or over the audit threshold, with an emphasis on accounts, tax and advisory work. It is likely you will be at either around the Senior Manager or Associate Director / Partner Designate levels and as mentioned above either be looking for a long term salaried higher level role or be looking to step up into a partner level role and be able to demonstrate the skills required and be looking to progress your career within a highly regarded firm of accountants.
What's on Offer
