About Our Client

Job Description

  • Represent the Appeals service as the subject matter expert working closely with others to disaggregate and understand highly complex processes and use this as a basis to define clear requirements and objects to underpin programme plans.
  • Budget holder for own service within the department ensuring that monies are available to support technological developments and service improvements.
  • Regularly update the Head of Operations, Deputy Director and Director with the status of the project.
  • Represent the Appeals service as the subject matter expert working closely with others to disaggregate and understand highly complex casework processes which must be robust.
  • Deliver new and innovative ways of working to achieve the right outcomes. Recognised as an expert and advocate for innovative approaches.
  • Lead on the development of new case management system and contribute to the development of an integrated approach across the organisation
  • Lead on their specialism within the local management and governance framework advising on service development.
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive programme of staff resources and training to help translate the system's new functionality into simple, workable plans.
  • Work with the team to define measures and gain buy in for adoption of deliverables to ensure project and overarching programme benefits are defined, agreed and accepted.  Act as a member of the Appeals Management Team and the Appeals Governance Group; taking collective management decisions on areas affecting or that have the potential to affect the delivery of the Appeals business plan and on its services.

The Successful Applicant

  • Project management qualification (e.g. Agile/Scrum, and Association for Project Management) or equivalent relevant experience of managing projects or working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good understanding of a range of project and business improvement methodologies and tools
  • Ability to lead IT & business change projects within a complex, constantly changing environment while being confident and capable under pressure.
  • Ability to act with the best interests of the user and champion the users' needs, challenge teams and challenge business assumptions.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills, with a proven track record of confidently and competently making the right strategic judgements on complex issues involving risk and/or unclear/incomplete/conflicting information
  • Experience of leading the successful delivery of technology focused programmes that include implementing new technology solutions.
  • Experience of successfully managing risks and issues within a complex programme environment.
  • Ability and resilience to receive and deliver challenging information constructively, while using effective communication skills to achieve the desired outcome, which may require tact and diplomacy to reconcile a variety of perspectives and gain consensus.
  • A broad knowledge of project management methodologies, including agile.
  • Good understanding of the challenges faced by the NHS.
