London Permanent £55,000 - £60,000
  • To take the lead for the management and control of major remediation programmes
  • And a have strong focus on both internal and external fire safety

The client are a North London based Housing Association with a forward thinking approach and a great deal of work going into Building Safety and this role will be based in the North London region.

Job Description

The key responsibilities as the Special Projects Manager are as follows:

  • To assist and support the Assistant Director in leading a programme of major remedial works projects
  • To successfully project manage individual remedial works packages to individual buildings
  • To liaise with residents and stakeholders on major defects projects, including dealing with complaints
  • To procure and manage construction and service contracts for Consultants and Contractors for major defect projects
  • To achieve a high quality cost effective project delivery for the organisation and its residents
  • To ensure that exposure to risk from a Health and Safety or Statutory Compliance failure is minimised

The Successful Applicant

The successful Special Projects Manager will need the following:

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in a Project Manager or related discipline role in the UK, preferably within the Housing Sector
  • Project values more than £150K+
  • Experience of managing Consultants, Contractors and Solicitors
  • Track record of managing successful programme and project delivery in line with desired outcomes and agreed quality, time and cost targets
  • Experience of working successfully on multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience of auditing construction information prior to commencement of works
  • Experience of snagging and handover of projects
  • Some management training/experience
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legal requirements
  • IT competency-in MS Office application
  • Building Regulations knowledge(especially AD B) and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Line management and development of staff
  • Understanding of the client relationship with Contractors and main forms of contract
  • Ability to make concise factual reports both verbally and in writing
  • Fire safety related qualifications would certainly be an advantage for this role
  • Proven track record in construction project management
  • Qualification in Building Surveying, Architecture, Engineering or Construction (MCIOB, RICS or similar)
  • Fire safety specific and/or rain screen cladding projects
  • Experience of identifying and managing project inter dependencies and implications that cross service boundaries
  • The ability to drive and have use of a car would be advantageous
