Job Description

This opportunity stands out in the Building Control and Local Government sector. You'll lead projects spanning leisure developments such as the extension to the Etihad stadium and other nationally prominent leisure and cultural developments such as the Coop Live Arena and the Factory, student accommodation, high-rise residential buildings, city centre offices and commercial schemes, town centre regeneration projects such as Wythenshawe, Hospital redevelopments including at the World Renowned Christies Hospital as well as Manchester Airport. As part of the broader building control team-comprising 20 members-you'll manage the team and report to the assistant director. Your focus will be on financial and operational performance. You'll drive decision-making in building control, oversee fire safety and safety at sports grounds, and represent the Council at SAG meetings. Your role involves setting and implementing standards related to buildings, construction, and public safety. On a daily basis, you'll collaborate with your team to ensure project safety and compliance. Throughout, your goal is to foster better coordination across services, partners, and communities.

If you're a technical building control manager or a principal building control inspector seeking career advancement, feel free to reach out! If you're not already at Level 4 according to the Building Inspector Competence Framework, don't worry-the council will assist you in achieving this qualification.
