About Our Client

The Government Property Agency is helping transform the way the Civil Service works and reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The GPA is a new organisation within Government, created in 2018 and is in many ways a start up. This means although it is a Government Department, many of the systems, processes, ways of working are still being set up.

The majority of the senior team have being recruited last year in Birmingham. The tech team is small (17 FTE currently) expected to grow to circa 30 this year and uses partners for a lot of delivery. The budget per annum is circa £14m, but expected to grow to circa £30m in the next few years.

Job Description

  • Working through complex issues decreasing number of escalations passed to 3rd line support.
  • Support a range of bespoke applications
  • Prioritise incoming messages for the team and ensures correct information flow, record keeping and data capture.
  • Detect notifications and conduct monitor checks to make sure that systems are running correctly.
  • Maintain secure configuration and accurate information, controlling IT assets in one or more significant areas, and verifying location and state of assets.
  • Analyse and assess impact, and develop and document change requests.
  • Implement changes based on requests for change.
  • Identify process optimisation opportunities with guidance and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions.
  • Diagnose and prioritise incidents, investigating their causes and finding resolutions.

The Successful Applicant

  • Own an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated or resolved.
  • Worked with bespoke applications.
  • Experienced in Microsoft and Google Applications.
  • You can initiate and monitor actions to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems, including consulting specialists where required.
  • You understand core technical concepts related to the role and can apply them with guidance
  • You can identify needs and engage with users or stakeholders to collate user needs evidence.
  • You can use quantitative and qualitative data about users to turn user focus into outcomes.
  • Self Starter
  • Strong Communication skills
