Job Description

As the Technical Architect (Southampton - WFH), you're purpose is:

  • Working in a dynamic environment the role of Technical Architect is to define and own the end-to-end on-premise and cloud architecture across the Group. To ensure all technical elements of project work or non-standard requests are planned, designed, and documented to an agreed architecture standard.
  • Deliver productised, standardised solutions to an optimal design that meets or exceeds identified business requirements, that are abstracted up to applies across the Group whilst also bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • The role is central and aligned with all Group locations, it should ensure that systems are robust, supportable and reflect the standards set out in the Technical Architecture Strategy.
  • The role should continuously review the external marketplace, including themes and trends. Lead innovative change proposals and contribute to the Strategic direction of IT.
  • Act as the point for technical escalation across BAU & Project Delivery where needed as the overall Design Authority, ensuring our environment is the best it can be.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet the Group current and future needs, decoupling problems, removing noise and articulating a clear path forward.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develops a culture and works in a manner that is aligned with values & behaviors
  • Lead the definition of Technology Architecture and Solutions and defines the way in which all systems should be planned, structured, implemented and managed
  • Actively contribute to the Technical Architecture Roadmap and be responsible for guiding the implementation of the technology platforms needed to support the organisations goals, projects and initiatives
  • Contribute to the organisation's financial well-being by ensuring that business and commercial outcomes are a major part of evaluating the performance solutions
  • Act as lead resource during critical call escalations to support and guide the teams during any Major Incidents.
  • Occasionally carry out hands on technical work that follows on from design Ï Manage all 3rd parties where there a technical service is provided company, attending meetings and being accountable for our architecture.
  • Accountable for design & health of our AWS Public cloud environment Ï Accountable for localised Edge Services from right first time provision and onward scale
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct software license position is in place for all design proposals. Highlight shortfalls, risks and options.
  • Ability to work across organisational boundaries, facilitating collaboration.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction for IT at an Enterprise level, aligning with methodologies set out by bodies such as TOGAF
  • Validate, influence and enforce architectural requirements that contribute to cost effective and reusable Premier Foods Group solution.
  • Establish and maintain an integrated architectural framework across the organisation's infrastructure, creating reusable blueprints and artifacts that underpin a consistent approach to change that is simple & effective.
  • Develop architecture for implementing common services and solutions
  • Contribute to an architectural repository and produce reference models for all systems across the landscape
  • Drive the function's adoption strategy with regards to people, process and technology solutions
  • Create, maintain and ensure High Level Design documents are in place for all solutions and effectively communicate all solutions to Delivery teams

The Successful Applicant

As the Technical Architect you will have:

  • Previous experience of working with complex technical environments
  • Ability to see big-picture designs and re-use concepts from basic requirements
  • Remote application availability awareness with products like Citrix
  • Broad understanding and ability to steer platform and application choices from companies like Microsoft, particularly 365, inTune, SCCM, Autopilot
  • Detailed Active Directory understanding from design, deployment and operational use.
  • Exceptional understanding of Cloud Platforms and best practices with AWS and Azure.
  • Depth of knowledge across multiple technologies
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong WAN/LAN/WiFi design and troubleshooting experience
  • Demonstrated exceptional experience in the documentation and communication of architectural design, solution requirements and solution deliverables
  • Operational awareness of complex SD-WAN solutions
  • Worked in organsiations that adopt TOGAF principles
  • Excellent 3rd party management and coordination skills
