Our client is an Australian government body dedicated to promoting the business services that New South Wales has to offer on a global trading stage.

Sydney is Australia's business capital, largest city and number one investment destination. With over 600 multinational companies based in and around Sydney, NSW is Australia's largest and most diverse economy and accounts for almost half of Australia's entire economic growth. NSW also boasts a well-established R&D infrastructure centred around universities and research organisations.

Job Description

This role is centred around positioning NSW as an area for UK businesses and investors to invest. Our client is in need of someone with a global outlook to be building strategic partnerships and trade relations to encourage the further growth and development of NSW as a major player on the global commercial stage.

  • The UK is negotiating a series of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and have signalled that an ambitious and comprehensive deal with Australia is a top priority
  • Australia's upcoming FTA with the UK signals Australia's shared commitment to open markets, free trade and the rules-based global trading system
  • Given the NSW economy powers Australia's economic performance, there is a valuable opportunity to leverage our strengthened trade and investment relationship to bring together NSW and UK investors and business leaders to drive commercial outcomes
  • The establishment of a larger UK-based NSW trade and investment team will improve cooperation in NSW's priority sectors with UK governments, research institutions and regulators

The Successful Applicant

Our client needs a consummate business development professional who is an experienced networker with skills for strategic conversations with key decision makers. Ideally you will have negotiated trade deals and promoted overseas investments.

  • In terms of the vertical/industry focus our client is looking for you to have had experience in; Emerging Technology, Medical Technology, Defence, Space, Renewables, Digital Technology and Manufacturing sectors
  • Our client needs a relationship-led, partnership-focused individual with a consultative style and an eye for opportunity. You will be brokering deals to promote a large area of business so an outside the box approach is needed when considering with whom it might be worth discussing leveraging business opportunities
  • You will be commercial, driven and enjoy hunting for new business opportunities in a thorough, detailed manner to have qualified conversations with decision makers early on in the discovery process
  • Finally, a link to Australia/New South Wales is desirable - perhaps you have lived/worked there and represented a business at some point in your career?

What's on Offer

Our client is paying a competitive salary but it is worth noting that there is no bonus/commission element to this role given our client is a Government Body. The salary on offer, however, is incredibly attractive. I look forward to hearing from you.
