Job Description

Key responsibilities for the Transport Manager include;

  • Responsible for the operational compliance and Transport legislation implementation as prescribed by the Fleet team.
  • Increase operational optimisation of the National Distribution Centre's fleet
  • You'll lead a small team by example, ensuring that the NDC team has strong relationships with operational managers across the business
  • Work with external providers to bridge any operational plans to deliver and optimise our service to the regional distribution centres network
  • Achieve transport related quality objectives across the Company
  • Promoting a 'right first time' culture within your team, to internal and external customers
  • Work with operational managers to implement improvement plans and monitor progress relating to compliance, accidents and fuel use for the NDC
  • Work collaboratively with Fleet team who are responsible to develop training courses on transport related subject,
  • You'll be involved in various transport related project work to improve performance
  • Assist the Operational Manager and the Planning and Project Manager in the analysis and overall performance of the NDC
  • Responsibility regarding vehicle operations costs, working with Fleet team who are responsible for maintenance and repair costs

The Successful Applicant

  • Hold and maintain management CPC qualification
  • 5 + Years experience in a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background (Ideally as a Transport Manager)
  • Understanding of the demands of operating a significant fleet of vehicles
  • You'll continually work to ensure you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current transport legislation
  • You'll be able to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Experience of managing maintenance contractors
  • Experience in auditing processes, WTD & Drivers Hours Legislation
  • A strong communicator, able to ensure key parties understand key messaging and remain focused
  • Financial awareness, as you'll support the management continually work to drive down costs
  • Live within a commutable distance of Nottinghamshire.
