Job Description

The Transport Manager in Merthyr Tydfil will be responsible for...

  • Responsible for managing and delivering all aspects of the standard international PSV 'O' licence.
  • Responsible for vehicle and trailer maintenance and repairs, liaising with commercial garages to organise repair of all defects
  • Monitor the driver defect checks in a timely manager
  • Manage the departments financial budget
  • Responsible for maintaining the maintenance files for all vehicles.
  • Responsible for organising all vehicle inspections as per DVSA regulations, including MOT's, scheduled checks and road tax
  • Deliver resource plans by managing the safe and cost-effective utilisation of equipment, working to decrease vehicle maintenance costs
  • Ensure all driver compliance is met, including required licence checks, and driver CPCs
  • Manage driver team relations and run an engaged and motivated driver team
  • Create and manage monthly driver liaison meetings
  • Complete a monthly board compliance pack and meet monthly with operations director to discuss compliance
  • Lead by example with Health & Safety on site
  • Driving department KPI's
  • Maintain driver files and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Continually review transport related risk assessments each year and amend as required
  • Continual review and improvement of operating procedures to maximise customer service and efficiency

The Successful Applicant

The Successful candidate for the Transport Manager will have exposure to;

  • Transport Manager PCV CPC or CPC and willing to complete the PCV
  • Have managed a Passenger Transport operation
  • Previous experience managing all HR procedures within a driver team
  • A strong understanding on vehicle maintenance
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft office suite
  • Full, Clean British Driving Licence ideally qualified to D1
  • A-levels highly desirable
  • Commutable Daily to Merthyr Tydfil
  • Understand this business is seasonal and so in peak times such as summer will work longer
  • Flexible weekend hours are required
