Audit and Assurance – many choose a career in audit either for a long term career or to boost their CV before moving to a traditional internal company finance function. A career in audit will stretch ones analytical ability, technical accounting knowledge, approach and understanding of risk, and understanding of different businesses and sectors.
General Practice – an alternative to a role in a large firm, roles within smaller firms are referred to as general practice whereby you will be working on anything from audit and accounts preparation, to cash-flow management and taxation issues for SME or privately owned companies.
- Advisory – fuelled by market dynamics and often seen as one of the most desirable areas to work on within practice, firms often focus on three core service lines: corporate finance including mergers and acquisition advisory, financial due diligence, business modelling and valuations; corporate recovery including insolvency, restructuring and debt advisory work; forensic accounting and fraud.
