With more people operating remotely than ever before, and teams adapting with a mix of office and home-based workers, working with empathy has never been more important.

The experiences of each of your employees will differ, as everyone has been impacted, and will feel and think differently about the global pandemic. Not only does demonstrating empathy remotely require everyone to recognise and understand this, but it is also much more difficult to do so when communicating virtually.

This webinar, led by empathy-in-action experts, The Empathy Business, CEO, Belinda Parmar equips leaders with the tools and techniques to step up in this online world and manage remotely effectively and with empathy.

By providing a toolkit and examples of how some of the biggest companies in the world are adapting to the new landscape, Belinda will demonstrate how to lead and communicate with empathy remotely, and how you sustain this beyond Covid-19. While also supporting diversity and ensuring those from diverse backgrounds have a bigger voice.

The topics to be covered during the webinar include:

  • Empathy in online meetings - how to communicate with purpose and empathy in online meetings, and use technology in a more human way.
  • Empathy in language - the power of language and how you can use language to ensure inclusivity and increase productivity.
  • Empathy in a crisis - led by an expert hostage negotiator: gain the tools to deal with the tensions of crisis and how to overcome them.
  • The power of an “empathy nudge” - a small act of change that can make a big difference to the empathy levels in a company. Develop your own empathy nudges – and watch how they evolve you and those around you.

The Empathy Business

We transform the way businesses and individuals work online post Covid-19.

How do we define empathy?

Over the last seven years, we have evaluated the most empathic companies in the world and developed an empathy index published in the Harvard Business Review. We are not talking about sympathy, which is feeling sorry for others. We are talking about Empathy in Action. The most empathic companies share 7 pillars: Empowerment, Meaning, Belonging, Reassurance, Authenticity, Collaboration and Ethics. Under this framework, we have built a rigorous foundation for empathy.

GROWTH

The top 10 companies in our Harvard Business Review Global Empathy Index 2015 increased in value* more than twice as much as the bottom 10 companies.

*value is defined by market capitalisation.

PRODUCTIVITY

The top 10 companies generated 50% more earnings per employee than the bottom 10 companies.

EARNINGS

The top 10 companies experienced a rise in earnings per share by 6% on average, compared to a fall by an average of 9% seen by the bottom 10 companies on the index.
