Job Description

Acting as a senior strategic advisor, you will collaborate with operational leaders and partner with stakeholders at C‑suite level to challenge traditional thinking, stimulate debate, and unlock sustainable value creation. You will also act as a cross‑functional innovation lead, strengthening customer relationships and positively shifting market perceptions.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor high‑performing teams across strategy and innovation (3-8 direct reports)
  • Drive commercial innovation across the business using creative, disruptive, and future-focused thinking
  • Manage major strategic projects and ensure alignment with the wider commercial strategy
  • Build trusted partnerships with customers and senior leaders
  • Identify commercial and environmental innovation opportunities, creating new value propositions
  • Support Net Zero and decarbonisation initiatives for both the organisation and customers
  • Develop sustainability‑led commercial offerings
  • Collaborate with academic and research partners to advance insight and capability
  • Champion our organisational values and mission across the industry



The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Experienced leader within the waste, environmental, or related sectors
  • Proven track record managing cross‑functional, high-performing teams
  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to embed and execute long-term plans
  • Influential communicator with experience engaging senior leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • High commercial acumen and the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent analytical skills and long-term strategic insight
  • Strong understanding of ecological transformation
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Relevant degree
  • Knowledge of PRINCE2 or similar project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methods
