Job Description

  • Lead the review, development, and maintenance of people policies, ensuring alignment with legislation, regulatory expectations, and internal governance procedures.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of employee relations casework, applying professional expertise, identifying risks, and advising on compliant and proportionate actions.
  • Maintain and manage the organisation's policy review schedule, ensuring timely updates, clear ownership, and effective communication across the business.
  • Work closely with the Policy Working Group and key stakeholders to provide evidence‑based recommendations for policy improvement.
  • Use people data, survey insights, and audit findings to identify trends and strengthen policy effectiveness, accessibility, and assurance.
  • Support policy consultation and implementation with our recognised trade union.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance self‑service resources and guidance to build organisational confidence and capability.
  • Contribute to the delivery of change projects such as the Competency Framework and Wellbeing Framework, ensuring policies support clear, consistent, and legally compliant practice.



The Successful Applicant

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience of reviewing and updating policies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to managing priorities.
  • CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) desirable.
