Investment Operations ManagerUp to £80,000 | Permanent | Leading Financial Services Organisation

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Investment Operations Manager to take a senior role within their Investment Operations function. This is an exciting opportunity to lead daily investment and fund administration processes, strengthen operational controls and drive meaningful improvements across systems, processes and operational capability.

Acting as the senior professional in the team, you'll ensure high‑quality delivery of fund administration activities, robust oversight of investment and treasury processes, and the development of an effective control environment.

You will also lead process improvement initiatives, modernise systems and contribute to operational change programmes that enhance efficiency, automation and governance.What You'll Be DoingOperational Leadership

  • Oversee daily investment operations including:
    • Appropriations
    • Trade placement and settlement
    • Treasury processes
    • Unit pricing
    • Fund valuation and associated fund administration activities
  • Review outputs from investment and treasury systems to ensure accurate and timely processing.



Controls, Oversight & Reconciliation

  • Lead the design, operation and ongoing enhancement of a robust control environment.
  • Sign off reconciliations including:
    • Control accounts
    • Trades and settlements
    • Variance checks
    • Exception and root‑cause investigations
  • Strengthen controls across key operational areas such as fund tax, rebates and box management.



Fund Administration Expertise

  • Act as the subject matter expert on unit‑linked funds and retail investment products, ensuring accurate and compliant administration across all fund processes.
  • Oversee operational aspects of the I‑E tax regime, BLAGAB and unit‑linked fund taxation.



Change, Improvement & Systems Development

  • Deliver an operational improvement roadmap, including leading a major investment system upgrade.
  • Implement best‑practice procedures and introduce more automated, efficient and scalable operational processes.
  • Explore and implement enhancements such as automation tools, APIs, SFTP integrations and new system capabilities.



Projects & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Leaddeep‑dive operational projects such as:
    • ALM reconciliations
    • Shareholder vs policyholder activity
    • Intrafund and intercompany processes
    • Rebate reviews
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Compliance and other stakeholders to support interpretation of results and management information.
  • Provide operational input into regulatory reporting processes, including Solvency II.



The Successful Applicant

What We're Looking For in a Investment Operations Manager:Essential

  • Extensive experience in investment operations, fund administration, within a life insurer or asset manager ideally, or perhaps a professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of unit‑linked funds and retail investment product structures.
  • Experience operating in a unit pricing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with investment systems such as:
    • InvestPro
    • pControl
    • HiPortfolio
  • Strong reconciliation experience including variance analysis and root‑cause investigation.
  • Deep understanding of operational controls and experience building and maintaining robust control frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the operational aspects of the I‑E regime and unit‑linked fund tax processes.



Desirable

  • Experience leading system upgrades or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Exposure to automation and digital workflow tools.
  • Understanding of Solvency II or equivalent regulatory reporting from an operational perspective.
