About Us

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is the international, multi-campus university tracing its roots back to 1828 and leading the way in modern learning today.  We believe in helping people to seize every opportunity to flourish in education, at work and for life.  We’re proud of our mission and we take it seriously.

We’ve grown into one of England’s largest universities, with a colleague and student community of around 42,000. Today the impact of our work extends to every corner of the globe.

And we’ve spent £200 million on transforming our Preston Campus to give it a world-class makeover. This includes a stunning brand-new Student Centre and University Square at the heart of campus, social spaces and a whole lot more. It’s a great time to join us.

Our External Relations service oversees marketing, communications, events, recruitment and partnerships, and public affairs.

We are the voice of UCLan and we are passionate about showcasing the achievements of our Schools, students and University, and strengthening our position in a competitive marketplace. We are here to tell our University’s story, to respond to our audiences, to attract and recruit future students, engage our current students, colleagues and communities and enhance the reputation of our institution.

We’re proud to offer life-changing opportunities to everyone who can benefit from them. Executing our strategic plan will help us continue this legacy. Joining our ambitious and enthusiastic senior team means helping us transform our vision into reality.

Our Employees

We proactively work to promote and embed equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do. Together we are creating a working environment where everyone can thrive. We are achieving this through the commitment of our colleague community and our involvement in equality awards, accreditations, networks and equality leads. We strive to ensure that our work is central to all policy development, decisions and practice, and that our career and learning opportunities are genuinely accessible to everyone.

Our people are the drivers of our success. And every colleague has a vital role to play in achieving our vision.

Our Location

The city of Preston is a vibrant, cultural and friendly city with a very long history. It was given the status of a market town in 1179 and obtained city status in 2002, becoming England’s 50th city in the 50th year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

The University’s main campus is a city-centre campus in the heart of Preston and we’re just a short 5-10 minute walk from the train station. The city is also well served by the M6 motorway both north (J32) and south (J31).
