Job Description



  • Inspect social housing properties to identify defects, damage, and maintenance issues.


  • Assess the cause, extent, and severity of disrepair affecting tenants' living conditions.


  • Prepare clear inspection reports with photographs, findings, and recommended remedial works.


  • Ensure properties meet legal standards, housing regulations, and landlord repair obligations.


  • Liaise with landlords, housing associations, contractors, and tenants regarding repairs.


  • Provide expert evidence or reports for complaints, claims, or legal disrepair cases.



The Successful Applicant

Experience carrying out residential property inspections, particularly within social housing.

Strong knowledge of building defects, damp and mould, structural issues, and maintenance requirements.

Understanding of housing legislation and landlord repair obligations (e.g., Housing Health and Safety Rating System).

Experience preparing clear, professional survey reports with photographic evidence and repair recommendations.

Ability to assess causes of disrepair and specify appropriate remedial works.

Experience liaising with tenants, housing providers, contractors, and legal teams where required.
