The organisation is based in Bromley with hybrid working.Job DescriptionReporting to the Head of Financial Operations, the Financial Control Manager will lead a team of six covering financial accounting, ledger control, finance system interfaces, treasury, expenses, accounts payable and customer payments.Key responsibilities include:* Leading, coaching, and developing the Financial Control and Operations team* Managing ledger close processes, journals, reconciliations, and reporting timetables* Acting as subject matter expert for ledger feeds across policy admin, payroll, expenses, investments and other core systems* Owning the financial control pack, including balance sheet and income statement reconciliation insights, ageing analysis, root cause analysis and exception reporting* Ensuring robust financial controls, completing control testing and maintaining risk registers* Driving continuous improvement, automation and technology-enabled enhancements to achieve target‑state processes* Partnering with Group Reporting, FP&A, Technical Accounting and operational teams* Managing operational tax submissions including VAT and regulatory reporting* Contributing to finance change and strategic transformation initiatives* Supporting cultural change towards high performance, accountability and continuous improvementThe Successful ApplicantThe ideal candidate for this Financial Control Manager position will have:* A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)* Strong experience across financial accounting, financial control and finance operations* Proven people leadership capability with the ability to inspire, challenge and develop teams* Background in financial services, ideally life and pensions* Experience improving financial control frameworks and working with risk and compliance* Strong understanding of system interfaces, reconciliations and end‑to‑end transaction flows* Comfort with change, transformation, and continuous improvement* Passion for simplifying and automating processes using technology* Desirable: treasury experience and knowledge of IFRS 17What's on Offer* Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience* Discretionary annual bonus* Hybrid working (up to three days per week from home after training)* Flexible start times* 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with holiday purchase scheme* Life assurance at four times pensionable earnings* Contributory pension scheme* Day of Caring volunteer day* Wellbeing support and employee assistance programme* Additional lifestyle and savings benefitsContactPaul UrquhartQuote job refJN-042026-6987112Phone number+44 1622 604 511Job summaryJob functionAccountingSubsectorFinancial ControllerSectorFinancial ServicesLocationBromleyContract typePermanentConsultant namePaul UrquhartConsultant phone+44 1622 604 511Job referenceJN-042026-6987112
