The Head of Infrastructure Finance will oversee and manage all financial aspects of infrastructure capital projects within an internationally renowned Higher Education Institution. The role requires extensive expertise in capital projects funding to ensure effective financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.

Job Description

  • overall responsibility for the effective delivery of a high quality service for estates capital, and IT capital funded projects and related capital grant income, including the monitoring and reporting of capital finances for all capital investment projects (c£275m over 5 years)
  • providing timely robust projections to inform the University's strategic and financial planning
  • responsible for budgetary control, accurate capital forecasting, month and year end processes
  • act as an investment gatekeeper through rigorous cost control, financial planning and analysis
  • ensuring strong financial controls underpin all operations and overseeing the effective management of budgets.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Infrastructure Finance should have:

  • A strong background in monitoring and reporting of capital finances for major complex estates and IT capital projects
  • Experience of working within complex, multi-funder environments including external grant funding
  • Experience of working within a public sector, Higher Education or strong governance environment
  • Expertise in managing budgets and financial planning for large projects.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting and compliance.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role
  • Supportive leader who can guide and develop the team
  • Strong communicator; personable and confident.
  • Comfortable working with senior colleagues and within the peer group.
  • Hands‑on and agile approach
