It offers the scale, profile and challenge that few in house legal teams can match, with exposure to major procurement, supply chain, utilities and public sector issues.Job DescriptionThe In-House Construction Solicitor will be:Delivering high quality legal advice across commercial and contracts matters linked to a major infrastructure programmeDrafting, reviewing and negotiating high value construction, procurement and corporate agreementsAdvising on contractual risk, project delivery issues and compliance with relevant legislation and regulationActing as a key legal contact for stakeholders across procurement, contract management and wider business functionsSupporting procurement activity, including major project and early works packagesAdvising on contractual claims and disputes, including use of external counsel where appropriateRunning legal surgeries to support internal teams and reduce external legal spendProviding advice on GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related privacy mattersPreparing training, legal updates, templates and self help tools for internal stakeholdersContributing to briefings and reports for senior management and government facing stakeholdersAttending court and major compensation events where requiredSupervising junior lawyers or trainees where neededThe Successful ApplicantThe In-House Construction Solicitor should be:A solicitor or equivalent with at least 4+ years PQEExperienced in commercial and or construction lawSkilled in drafting a wide range of legal documents and commercial agreementsAble to advise on large scale UK construction or infrastructure mattersFamiliar with public sector procurement processes and contract lawConfident managing numerous priorities in a fast paced environmentStrong in stakeholder management, influencing and communicationExperienced in handling contractual claims, disputes and external legal spendHappy attending court and supporting high value compensation mattersEligible to obtain BPSS clearanceWhat's on OfferThis is an outstanding opportunity to join a high profile in house legal team working on a nationally important infrastructure programme.
